Cruise the Danube to Vienna and Budapest
Immerse yourself in the fascinating history and culture of the heart of Europe on the Danube to Vienna and Budapest river cruise. With time in Vienna as well as a visit to Budapest, this is a wonderful opportunity to sail the waters immortalised by the composer Strauss in The Blue Danube. Begin your trip at the pretty city of Passau on the Austrian border before making stops at Dürnstein, famous for the ruins of the castle that once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart, and the romantic town of Melk, situated in the Wachau Valley, where you can join an optional excursion to visit the most famous monastic house in Austria, the Benedictine Abbey.
Day 1 UK – Germany
Travel by coach and Eurotunnel for an overnight stop, including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 2 Germany – Passau
After breakfast travel by coach and board the ship in Passau, known as the ‘three rivers city’ due to its unique location where the Danube, Inn and Ilz rivers meet. Relax onboard as we set sail and cruise towards Melk.
Day 3 Melk – Vienna
Join an optional excursion to visit the most famous monastic house in Austria, the Benedictine Abbey, situated above Melk in the Wachau Valley. The remainder of the day can be spent relaxing on board as you sail to Vienna for an overnight stop.
Day 4 Vienna
Spend a whole day in Vienna seeing the key attractions of this city. In the morning you can join the optional city tour and in the afternoon there’s an optional excursion to Schönbrunn Palace. In the evening cast off and cruise towards Budapest.
Day 5 Budapest
Spend time in one of the world’s most beautiful cities and explore both sides of Hungary’s capital – traditional ‘Buda’ and cosmopolitan ‘Pest’. Start with an optional tour to become acquainted with the city and in the evening you can choose to experience Budapest by night on another optional excursion.
Day 6 Budapest
Enjoy free time in Budapest or opt to take our excursion taking you through the sweeping plains of Hungary to Lajosmizse. Visit a traditional stud farm and enjoy a tour of the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage, before watching a live Puszta horse show. Sail to Bratislava.
Day 7 Bratislava
Join an optional walking tour to take in the sights of the Slovakian capital, dominated by its castle, and experience its rich culture. Later in the day, set sail towards Dürnstein.
Day 8 Dürnstein
The town of Dürnstein nestles among Austria’s most famous vineyards and is crowned by the ruins of the castle that once imprisoned Richard the Lionheart. It’s a beautiful place filled with cobbled streets, pretty courtyards and 16th century houses. After some free time, set sail for the final time and cruise towards Passau.
Day 9 Passau – Germany
Disembark this morning and travel by coach for an overnight stop including dinner, bed and breakfast.
Day 10 Germany – UK
After breakfast continue by coach to Calais, taking the Eurotunnel to Folkestone for our return journey.

Overview of cruise ship – MS Serenity
The MS Serenity is a premier, 4-star cruise ship – a floating hotel which visits some of the most beautiful places in Europe.
From her distinct claret and cream colours on the outside, to the polished interiors and exquisite meals – there’s an air about this ship that exudes style and yet the atmosphere is warm and friendly. There’s also plenty of space to gather with friends and chat over drinks or enjoy some quiet time in your own company. Even the cabins are an inviting space to relax, with those on the Panorama Deck offering excellent river views from a French balcony.
The spacious restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy your included meals, where you are looked after by the highly professional and friendly service team. Meals are served at a single sitting and the menus include international cuisine along with traditional local dishes, freshly prepared by your on -board chef.
The spacious Sun Deck, which stretches nearly the whole length of the ship, offers uninterrupted 360-dregree panoramic views of your stunning surroundings.
The spacious and attractive lounge is located on the Panorama Deck and ensures much cosiness on board. It’s a great place to meet your fellow guests and relax as you watch the scenery pass by.
Located at the rear of the ship, as well as great views from the inside, this is a more low-key alternative.
All of the outside cabins aboard the MS Serenity have a bright modern feel, are appointed with tasteful decor, twin beds, en suite shower with wc, air conditioning, radio, satellite TV, safe and a hairdryer. There’s also plenty of storage space for your suitcases, along with a good size wardrobe and a small desk and chair. Each cabin has river views so you can watch the outside world drift by as much as you like. Choose from superb accommodation on the Main Deck, the Middle Deck, or the Panorama Deck.
Main Deck Cabin
Located on the lower deck and feature two small viewing windows. These cabins are the same size as the Middle and Panorama Deck cabins.
Middle Deck Cabin
These cabins are on the deck above the lower deck and feature large sliding windows. These cabins are the same size and shape as the Panorama Deck cabins.
Panorama Deck Cabin
These cabins are the highest standard rooms aboard the MS Serenity and are located on the upper deck. They boast a French balcony, which offers excellent river views.
