60103 Flying Scotsman, East Lancashire Railway
One of the most famous steam locomotives in the world, 60103 Flying Scotsman, will be steaming back to the East Lancashire Railway in 2020. Experience a return journey behind the legendary locomotive along the scenic Lancashire line from Bury to Rawtenstall. Built in 1923, it was designed by Sir Nigel Gresley as part of the A1 class – the most powerful locomotives used by the LNER at that time. In 1934, Scotsman was clocked at 100mph on a special test run – officially the first locomotive in the UK to have reached that speed.
